Parveen Babi, a name that defined style, fashion, beauty and a renowned actress of her times. Parveen gave all ‘80s actresses a run for their money by her acting prowess and charm. Parveen was extra-ordinarily good looking, who used to steal every show with her stellar performances on-screen. Well, that’s not all, the life looked more than perfect for Parveen Babi until the rough phase came in. The story was then never the same for India’s first female superstar. The girl next door, Parveen who made a mark in Bollywood with movies like Amar Akbar Anthony (1977), Deewar (1975), Namak Halaal (1982), Kaalia (1981), Suhaag (1979) and the list is endless, had to go through severe depression and many failed relationships. Not many know Parveen was diagnosed with one of the most dreaded disorder - Paranoid Schizophrenia.
Speaking about her personal life, Parveen Babi dated Danny Denzongpa in the early ‘70s and Danny had revealed in an interview that they lived together for four years when they were two young kids. Gorgeous Parveen later got into a relationship with Kabir Bedi, who was a Bollywood actor but their relationship ended in 1977. And then the Bollywood diva fell for ace filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt who is known for his craft. The filmmaker had to handle Parveen during the time when she diagnosed with - Paranoid Schizophrenia.
Spilling the beans on their love affair, Mahesh Bhatt once told a leading website that she had one opened the door of a moving car, saying the bomb would burst and ran out on the road with him trying to hold her. “People thought 'Parveen Babi' was having a fight with her boyfriend. Somehow, I huddled her into a taxi and brought her home. The scene was scary - I got into LSD and Parveen went through a series of nervous breakdowns. I went through trauma and a hell of my own making for two and a half years,” Bhatt had once told India Today.
There were also reports that Parveen Babi had once accused megastar Amitabh Bachchan of killing her.
Move over that her controversial love affairs, Parveen’s Babi’s death was as controversial as her life. Born into a Muslim family, Babi’s was found in her apart when neighbors had complained of not seeing her. Police had to break the door to find the body of Babi, which was full of maggots. Police have suspected that she had died 3 days before her body was found on January 22, 2005. The post-mortem had stated that no food was found in her stomach but some alcohol. It was also reported that she might have not eaten anything as a consequence she starved to death.
